Medix ran its annual Medical Monitor Survey 2018 in Hong Kong focusing on concerns and perceptions around Cancer, and results were released last Thursday. The survey finds that 75% of Hong Kong respondents are worried about being diagnosed one day with Cancer with 69% knowing at least one person in their close social circle with the disease. When it comes to Cancer treatment, nearly half (49%) combine Western Medicine with Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), though many do so without consulting with their Oncologist. This can have a negative impact on the efficacy of their treatment and cause side effects! If patients are planning to combine TCM with their treatment, they should have an open conversation with their treating Oncologist and discuss potential contra-indications.

Medix ran its annual Medical Monitor Survey 2018 in Singapore, and results were released last Tuesday. It is surprising to learn that only42% of Singaporeans consider themselves very or quite healthy and that 83% are afraid of being diagnosed with Cancer. Although being scared of Cancer, the survey shows that only 1 out of 4 of respondents undergo any cancer-related screening tests, which would help them prevent and/or early diagnose the disease. Very disturbing, was to find out that for example, only 37% of Singaporean women undergo any Breast Examinations or a Pap Smear, which are known to help diagnose Breast or Cervix Cancer at an early stage, improve prognosis and save lives.
